Floramedica is the practice of Anna Canning. Established in 2008, the practice is based in central Edinburgh and offers modern Western herbal medicine to people of all ages.
Essentially, herbal medicine is the use of plants to restore and maintain health. Its holistic approach focuses not only on dealing with health problems, but on stimulating an individual's own healing resources. It is suitable for adults and children, and can treat a wide range of conditions. A qualified herbalist will take into account a patient's diet, lifestyle, age and build, any existing medical problems, medications taken and whether a woman is pregnant or breastfeeding. Consultations at Floramedica herbal practice combine clinical professionalism with a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Anna holds a BSc Hons (1st class) in Herbal Medicine (Phytotherapy) from Napier University, Edinburgh, and is proud to be a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy. Previously she worked for many years as a freelance translator and university researcher. Anna is also a teacher of Lissim, an innovative self-help pain relief technique.
